Ouch

This move hurt.

I know it is all part of the military cycle, people come and people go. But that doesn't make it any easier to say good-bye.

In the 3 years we have been here, we have all had to say good bye to friends we have grown very attached to. I have had several close friends leave, as has Sam, and so have the kids.

But this time, it hit us all at once; Collin's best friend, a great friend of Kaitlynn's, and their parents who have become some our closest pals.

They are off to a great Alaskan adventure.

Yesterday was the last day together, so we took some pictures at the park. They wanted one done on EACH piece of equipment and they were quite creative in their posing.

This one below is probably my favorite one.

Wyatt is going to be missed VERY much.

(Can anyone catch what is wrong with this picture??)

Morgan was such a sweet heart and was so good with Kaebrie.

I hate good byes.

I would just as soon skip out on them if at all possible.

I already had to hug another great friend good bye at church that morning. (Jill, you will be missed so much). Our neighborhood is looking like a ghost town, so many have left and all the new people are moving into the new neighborhood.

They called and asked us to meet them in town for ice cream last night. So we went. And we all did a good job at pretending it wasn't a big deal.

We had agreed earlier not to say it, so we didn't.

But I was thinking it.  :(

I have promised to come and visit. I have always wanted to see and photograph Alaska, so right now we are tentatively planning on the Fall of 2009.

I just might have to avoid looking at the empty house next door for awhile.

I think the hardest part of military life is saying goodbye. But, at least now you have a very good reason to take a trip to Alaska!

Jodi - goodbyes stink! I haven't found that they get easier...I do tend to jump into relationships quicker these days knowing that time in the same location is a blessed luxury.

Do you have a 4 year assignment? Put AK on the dreamsheet. We loved EAFB. We'll be visiting summer 09 - or sometime 09. Our hearts still long for AK - we've been here 3 years and have one more year before the next big adventure.
