What IS that smell????

I know, we have already celebrated

Sam's birthday, twice in fact.IMG_3582

But, there is something about the ACTUAL day that must be celebrated as well. I mean, you only turn 40 once!

So, this morning I ran to the commissary to get the missing ingredients I forgot the other day for the dinner and the cake stuff so the kids could make a cake.

I wanted to hide them somewhere so I put them in the oven, knowing he would NEVER look in there over his lunch break.

I get back from my board meeting and am rushing around trying to get dinner in the oven ( it is one of those recipes that you have to do in the afternoon because it has to cook for over 3 hours) before my 3 PM doctors appt (nasty sinus infection) and I preheat the oven before putting dinner in.

A bit later I am wondering, "What IS that nasty smell?"

Melting plastic is what that nasty smell was. The top of the frosting can, the candles, even the plastic bag the cake mix was in was sticking to the inside of the box.

We let them all cool off and made it anyway!  :)

The disadvantage of being a multi-tasker is that sometimes things don't go as planned.

The HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY gang!

(Kaebrie is thinking, "forget the picture, just let me eat cake!!)

Again, she is only thinking about eating (or about her wedding with Larry boy, but that is for another post).

Happy Birthday Sam!

You said tonight you hope you are still around for the kids 40th birthdays and I totally agree. We must see what they turn out to be!

That's too funny. Sounds like something I'd do for sure.

hahahahaha, once I turned the dryer on with the CAT in there. She was fine, I turned it off immediately because I didn't remember having left tennis shoes in there!!! I have learned to check all appliances before turning them on!
I'm glad Sam had another wonderful party. That cake does look delish!
Hope to see you soon. Much love, Aunt Elisabeth and Uncle Roy
