God didn't create me to be a pilot or to be in the air for that matter; yes I got sick. (This is the question everyone asks) That, however, is meaningless to me because today I gained a much greater understanding of what the Bro's over at the 390th (and Fighter Pilots all over the place) do on a pretty frequent basis; train for the day they might have to go into the blue, hit the pickle switch, and send another plane and pilot into God's presence. The Mighty Eagle was not created to ferry folks around in -- it was made to be a precision machine that makes people think twice about taking hostile actions against our country.

Incentive Flight
We had planned on being at the squadron at 9:30 to meet Sam and take pictures, but he called at 8:15 and said to come sooner, they moved up the time. So we rushed around here getting ready and getting Kaebrie to her friends house, and off we went!
We were there for three and a half hours and had a great morning and I was so happy the weather was perfect for Sam.
I know there are a lot of pictures and videos below, but I just didn't want to omit anything.
This has taken me almost 2 hours to organize and upload, and if I don't start getting organized and packing, Collin and I will never be ready to leave here at 5:45 am tomorrow.
Enjoy it all and leave some comments for Sam!
My Top Gun cutie pie!

In the room getting his special gear on.
This is the lobby of the squadron.
Showing off their new head gear.
He was recognized and congratulated several times.
But then one of the captains ran out of the building and pointed at a plane taking off and yelling, THAT"S THEM!
They took of 6 minutes earlier then planned, so we missed being close and missed getting it on video, but below are some pictures of it.
completely vertical!!!!

Collin said we should all get a pair of these special ear phones. He can't hear a thing! And it might make the drive home this summer nicer.
:)
It was already 70 degrees by 11:30. What an absolutely gorgeous day!
I knew how loud it would be. We were right next to the jets when the engines turned on, with special earplugs in our ears covered my extra duty earphones, and I knew Kaebrie would freak, so we left her playing with a friend this morning. Christopher did really well, but he hung on to me when those engines started up and I could feel his heart pounding he was so nervous.
Here he is with Evil. Who was GREAT by the way! When we got out to the jet, he spent a good 10 - 15 minutes giving us a tour and showing the kids how the missiles are released, and showing them the guns and where the ammunition is loaded and all the parts of the plane. Collin ate up his every word, he was fascinated! It was so much better seeing it in person then watching it on the Military Channel. :)
One of the other pilots that flew, Sampson, had his fini-flight. That means it was his last flight at this base. It is tradition to douse them with water, champagne, or whatever else. He walked over to Sam and handed him his last few sips of champagne that was still in the bottle. :)
Here they are! Next to Sama and Evil is Fist and Sampson, the pilots of the two other jets that flew with them.
He doesn't feel well at all, but that is a genuine smile on his pale face!
Wow. WHAT an exciting morning. I would rate that as one of the top field trips of the year as well. I am going to ask Sam to blog the morning from his perspective later, right now he is sound asleep! They all told me he would be pretty worthless the rest of the day. I say he deserves a great nap.
I am so thrilled that he got to do this. It is an honor to be chosen. Most people will go through their entire military career without this opportunity.
One video is below, if you want more, let me know and I will email them to you!
