The topic of a potato gun came up at the 4th of July party. Sam and Collin decided that would be a fun thing to do on a holiday weekend. So yesterday afternoon, off they went to town with a supply list they printed off the Internet. Collin went over to the commissary and bought a pack of Idaho potatoes as the ammunition. They assembled all the pieces and made sure the igniter worked as well.
Kaebrie was looking through the other end to see if she could see the potato.
The potatoes were a bit large, so they really had to be crammed down the hole.
Then, add the hairspray (no shortage of that in this household)
It scared us all how loud and powerful it was.
Here is what is left after it exploded into the fence.
Sam took Collin OFF base to do it again. We didn't want any neighbors reporting loud explosions in the neighborhood.
Surprisingly, after it was over, we noticed we had an audience. I guess it wasn't loud enough to scare off one of our neighborhood owls. She let me get really close to her!
I could tell she was started to get mad, antsy, paranoid uncomfortable because her little ear tufts were starting to point down. You can see the difference in the two pictures. She was NOT shy about giving me the direct eye contact stare down!
Later that evening Sam was studying in the back yard and she swooped down really low with a whistle pig hanging in her claws.

Now this is one that we are going to have to try.....I got a laugh out of what the neighbors on base may think.
