It was not to be.
Tiff and KB were asleep, but the other 3 were crawling on the floor saying, "kitty kitty kitty."
Yes, I did think this was odd. I wondered what was wrong with Dixie, our cat.
Turns out they found a stray, cold and hungry in the snow, calico cat and opened the door and let her come in. They had already named her AUBIE before I ever came home and had a say in this cat matter.
I called the police this morning here on base to see if someone had reported her missing. She is very clean, VERY friendly and is obviously not wild and is used to lots of love and lap time.
No calls. I did leave our name and number in case someone does call. It is sad to think that somebody would dump a nice cat in the freezing cold weather we have been having.
Both of our grandmas have calico cats. Sadly, Sam's parents cat, Maise, died a few months ago after they had had her for 13 years. Kaebrie still talks about Maise and we told her that Maise had died. (This was WEEKS and weeks ago.) She got up this morning, and the first thing she said when she saw me was,
"Mommy! I saw Maise. She is here. She isn't dead."
I am open to trying to find her a place, but I am SO outvoted. We kept the cats separate last night, and as I type is the first time Dixie has noticed Aubie. There are dog type growls going on, and a few small hisses, but that is it.
The kids are THRILLED.
We shall see what happens.
