Today was yet another fun field trip!!!!!!!! There are now 7 families with 22 children that home school on our block. IT IS SO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't feel so alone in it anymore, there is ALWAYS someone available to play, there is always help available, there is sharing info and supplies going on, and there are field trips to go on together. This trip was put together last night and some of the homeschool families were available this morning to go to the Base Firehouse, this being Fire Safety Week!
Here is the group with Sparky the FireDog in front of one of the trucks.
Collin and James sitting in the new fire truck. It is an experimental model that the base is using for a year.
They showed us how the firemen has LESS then 60 seconds to get all their gear on and get out the door. We timed them, and they did it!

This is an interesting house design. They gave us a FULL tour. We saw the huge kitchen, the sleeping quarters, the gym, the TV room, the game room, the 911 emergency call room, and the BIG room where all 10 firetrucks are held. They do 24 hours on, then 24 hours off.The double sided fiehouse had 5 trucks facing both directions. Facing front were trucks ready to leave to be anywhere on base. Trucks facing the other direction were for the flightline and the jets. If a landing gear fails, or a bomb didn't deploy during a practice flight in the desert, or a fire, the runway firetrucks are ready, and they are HUGE!!!!!! Since there are not fire hydrants on the runway, they have to be able to carry more water then the usual truck. We were there for about an hour and learned a LOT!
