Team Yazoo

Team Yazoo went incredibly well! We spent four HOT days serving our community and loving on some new neighbors. Others church members and friends that were not signed up to go to Mexico were able to join us for all or part of the time here. Above is most of the group that worked the week of June 14 -17.

With 4 days of hundreds of photos, they got all out of order on here, but there are just to many to try and get them straight when I am so behind on blogging. So hang in there with me and be patient with all the explanations!

One of the homes we worked at was the Odom's. They breed and sell chihuahuas and Pomeranians. Their kennel was destroyed and we are tearing it down and building a new one. Here is a 5 week old baby!
Noah starting the tear down process....
They have 33 dogs and it was an amazing sight to see them all follow her around.
Kaitlynn and Marie, working on another home in the area.
Dianne cleaning the windows of a newly installed Katrina cottage. Behind her is the condemned house that will be torn down.
There was work for everyone!
Elliott, on top of the laundry room taking the screws out of the tin so it could be saved. The room had to be torn down.

At another house, the youth group put on an entire new roof in 4 days. It was impressive! This was day one cleaning up all the old shingles.
Clifton, John, Luke and Frances starting on the roofing.

The tearing down of the previously mentioned laundry room. Told you these were all out of order!

Mondays group at Cheryl's house.
Cooling off was pretty much impossible. We were breaking records with heat indexes of 108.
But we tried!

Every night, we all went home to shower then we met back up at the church for dinner, music and worship time.
My little friend, Harris.
Kaitlynn with Nettie Taylor and Marie.
I love how Harris is looking at Luke. He was just fascinated!
Off comes the old!!!
4 of the Pomeranian puppies! They were so soft and adorable!
Benton gets first go at the jackhammer!
Kaitlynn worked on that roof for hours! Here she is with the magnet collecting any roofing nails left behind.
Collin and Noah also on the roof.
Prying up the nails that the magnet wouldn't pick up.
This was how everyone looked for lunch. Talk about a lot of hard workers!
Besides taking pictures, this was my job, getting lunch ready everyday for 40 -50 servants.
Sam came in during lunch and commented on the "odor" in the room. Benton immediately came and gave him a nice hug!
yes, she wanted a puppy! no, she can't have one.
Almost done tearing down the old kennel.
Sweeping off the new tar paper.
Water break. There were many of those in that awful heat.
The Cookie House is the old nunnery across the street from our church. We have finally decided to put it to use, but first it all had to be cleaned out from 20 years of using it as a storage building. Everything was put out front and labeled FREE and people showed up and took it ALL away!

The music every night was great! It was the first time we had seen Collin lead worship with his youth group. Impressive!
Games of NINJA happened every day. I don't think I could explain the rules, but they LOVE it!

Time for the new shingles to go on!

My 11 year old, on a roof with power tools. She did great!
Even Tiff got to sit up there with Sam and watch. No power tools for him yet.

:) I Like this one.
It looks like that nail gun is aimed at Collin's head. Thankfully, there were NO roofing injuries at all that week.
She did great! Looks like a pro!

Elliott and Jesse!
Luke!
Mary Moses, with Steve and John.
One of my favorites. I sent Sam up on the roof with my camera.

We went through 200 bottles of water and Gatorade a day!

I am still finding interesting trees.
Henry clearing some trees of some property.

I feel like I am missing a lot, but this is the general idea of what we did that week. Everyone worked hard, and I believe was a true blessing to the families we helped. The Lord kept us here in Yazoo this summer and I pray we glorified Him well.
