School Stuff
Above: Kindergarten had PAJAMA DAY! They thought that was so much fun! They also had to bring their favorite stuffed buddies. So, here is Kaebrie with Dakota, and all her classmates and their friends! We did a really neat "egg-"speriment. We took the shells off of RAW eggs and played with various liquids for the next few weeks. Seeing what the membrane would allow through into the inside of the egg. It was fun! We ended with different colors of food coloring, and sure enough, it let it in and the raw yolks turned the color!
Lane chose red for his color!
All but 2 of my 6th graders! Marshall, Rofel, Mark, Lane, Warner, Amber, Nettie Taylor, Erin, Sierra and Kaitlynn. We were missing Andrew and Cole that afternoon.
This one got in there by mistake, Lil"Bit lives at home, not in the classroom. :)
We named this lizard, "I don't stand a chance." And he didn't.
The skink that was caught in my bathroom!
A praying mantis. Who knew they would be such interesting pets? This female ended up laying 3 egg sacs, which means we could have up to 1500 baby mantii come February. She ate crickets like corn on the cob. She ate the male mantis. We had her for 6 weeks and she recently died. She will be missed!
Warner and Erin with our peanut butter, pipe cleaner, play dough, and jelly bean parts of a cell project.
Below is all of them they way they were, for about 24 hours. The skink was eaten later that afternoon. Three days later, the lizard met the same fate, even though he spent most of his time clinging up high to the glass looking below for the snake. At some point he must have rested.....
We are having a lot of fun with these animals in the classroom. They are providing lots of educational opportunities as well as lots of educational interruptions! :)
